Today I am posting some information I hope you will find useful to increase traffic to your website. The following information will not guarantee increased web traffic but it will hopefully help you with this. WordPress web sites are a great platform to allow good search engine ranking if used correctly and updated regularly. The following info should also assist you.
This post is all based around the All In One SEO plugin for WordPress. Images shown are screen dumps from a demo page. I will try to make this as clear as possible so you can utilize it in your sites as well.
1. Firstly you need to ensure you have the “All in One SEO” plug in installed in your site. You can do this by simply clicking on the “Plugins” tab on the left side of your dash board once you’ve signed into your web page. You should see listed under plugins “All in One SEO Pack”. If you do not have it installed, you can easily install is by clicking the “Add New” selection on the left of the dashboard, search for it and click install. There are many different SEO plug ins available so make sure you select the correct one.
2. Once you’ve confirmed it’s installed, you can start adding key words to your pages and posts. When you select either Pages (Pages displayed on your web site for information on your business) or Posts (Blog/information updates like this entry) you should see below the main content entry section a new window called All in One SEO. (Image below will assist you in knowing what to look for), you may need to scroll further down the page to find it. You simply need to start entering the information in the spaces provided. I generally only use three sections.
3. The following image shows the specific addition I made for this post. I’ll add the key words below the picture as you cannot see it all on the image. You can use as many key words as you wish just simply add them and place a comma between them.
Keywords: SEO, Search Engine Optimization, WordPress, Plug in, page ranking, Google, Altavista, Yahoo, Page ranking, Improve
4. Once you’ve entered your post and added the SEO portion you can go ahead and “Publish” it. You’re done. Posts will not show immediately. They need to be found by search engine crawl bots but hopefully in time (sooner than later) you’ll start seeing your posts and pages higher ranked. Google offers a good Key Word search tool to assist you – GOOGLE SEARCH TOOL
So I hope this helps you a little with adding “Key Words” to your web page to improve your search engine ranking. As always, feel free to contact me should you need assistance setting this up or if you have questions. Feel free to post a reply/Question on here as well so others can benefit from your questions/ideas as well.

Hi Scott, Excuse my ignorance, but do you mean add those actual words you used, as well as relevant keywords?

Hi Kerri – You would use words specific for your business. Lets use for instance your “Weddings” page. You would use words like; Wedding, Hire or furniture. When you add key words to “Pages”, use words related to that page only. For your “Romantic Lighting” page, use key words related to that etc. I hope that helps.

Hi Scott I went into my site to have a go at your plugins however I do not have that info on my dashboard. I did not waste the effort I put a new post on my blog so that the search spiders see I am a good web citizen!
I did take your advice about my title this time, I think I am slowly getting the hang of things. Could you have a quick look at my pages and see if I’m being thick again or if perhaps I do not have the feature yet. Would appreciate a comment as I always doubt myself with techie stuff.

Hi Pat – I’d not installed the plug-in you needed for this so have just added it for you now. You should now be able to see the additional sections on bot the “Pages” and “Post” sections of your site.
As for the title and content – Great! It uses great key words in both the title and the main content. It will be interesting to do a Google Search in a couple of days to see if it shows.
